Dublin 8 Workspace
- Location: New Street South, Dublin 8
- Budget: Private
- Status: Complete (2023)
- Type: Office / Commercial
We were engaged by Safe Events to design a small office fit out for their company on New Street South in Dublin 8.
With the existing space feeling a little tired, slightly rigid and unwelcoming, we were tasked with creating a “home from home”; somewhere warm & inviting but also somewhere fun and engaging – a true reflection of their corporate personality.
The existing floor plate was opened up into one large office space with three distinct zones; a lounge, the main work floor & a seminar area which can be closed off using an acoustic curtain. The project reused as much as possible from the original tenants, repurposing both old wall shelving units and the table bases which were joined together to make large banqueting style communal workbenches to encourage the free flow of ideas. The new materials we introduced were natural, tactile and environmentally responsible where possible. This included bespoke pine open storage shelving, wood wool ceilings, a cork plank floor - which also benefited acoustics and even plastic free, circular (economy) light fittings which reference stage lighting at the events organised by the company. The existing cold concrete soffit and columns are offset by warm paint tones, splashes of coloured furnishings and a curated planting scheme throughout the space.
The client commissioned a street artist to create a pop-art mural and has some funky pieces of interactive art dotted around the space, including a bespoke light up lego model of one of their events!
